Kids with ADHD might find friendships hard. For example, those who are inattentive may get left out, while those who are hyperactive might be rejected because they interrupt or talk too much.
As a parent, how should you respond? You can start by helping your child develop social skills. One helpful strategy is setting up structured play dates. Before the play date, remind your child to let their friend choose the game and check in if their friend is enjoying it. Encourage your child to ask, “Are you having fun?” and to suggest a new game, if needed.
